Placebo es un grupo musical de rock alternativo formado en 1994 en Londres, Inglaterra. Está compuesto por Brian Molko y Stefan Olsdal tras el abandono del baterista Steve Hewitt el 1 de octubre de 2007.[1] La banda alcanzó un considerable éxito desde su debut discográfico en 1996, vendiendo más de un millón de copias de sus discos en el Reino Unido y sobre ocho millones en todo el mundo.
La banda se formó cuando Molko y Olsdal, que habían asistido a la misma escuela pero aparentemente nunca hablaron,[3] se encontraron por casualidad en el metro de Londres y subsecuentemente iniciaron un proyecto que titularon brevemente Ashtray Heart.
